Annette Collazo

Strong. Honest. Caring. Committed.
Democrat for Florida State Representative District 110

If it “takes a village” to raise a child, then we must make sure that village is strong.
-Annette Collazo

Meet Annette

I decided to run for office because we need leaders that understand and care about the experiences of the people in our district, so they can truly represent our best interests in Tallahassee.

As a teacher for over 10 years, I want to help empower individuals and strengthen our communities — all of which impact the future of our young people. If it “takes a village” to raise a child, then we have to make sure that the village is strong.

As someone that has lived and worked in our communities of Hialeah, Miami Lakes, and NW Dade, I not only understand our issues but will collaborate with leaders on both sides of the aisle to effectively legislate once in Tallahassee. I am working to earn your vote and support, and invite you to explore my website and reach out!

Economy
Economy

Between high rents, rising insurance costs, and low wages, I recognize the challenges facing the hard-working people and small business owners in Florida, and it’s not right.

I will fight to ensure that we have fair, living wages and protection of small businesses, so the people in our district can provide for their families and give back to our local and state economy.

Healthcare
Healthcare

No one in our community should be forced to choose between paying the bills and getting proper medical care. It is clear that we must expand healthcare for everyone, including mental healthcare.

I will advocate for the people of our district to keep the coverage they enjoy and get the coverage they need.

Education
Education

Everyone has a right to an excellent education, and every school should be a safe, supportive place, regardless of the zip code.

I will work diligently to address inequalities in our school system, to support and compensate teachers adequately, and to fully fund our public schools.

Economy
Environment

When we protect our environment, we protect our economy. In South Florida especially, we depend on our unique natural resources and must preserve them.

I will defend our South Florida home against the threats of climate change, and protect the tourism jobs and income that benefit our entire state.

Racial Justice
Transportation

Transportation can make a big impact on quality of life. From traffic to increased tolls to a lack of viable transit options, we have a long way to go to improve our system.

I will work collaboratively with local and state entities to find solutions to these problems and make progress on our traffic and transportation issues.

Education
Mine Blasting

Mine blasting continues to be a problem in our district. We need to protect the people who are affected by this, not the special interests who cause the problems.

I will work to get advance warning to help residents prepare for blasts, fight for compensation for our homeowners, and review the best ways to ban blasting in our community and find better alternatives.

Racial Justice
Racial Justice

Recent incidents in our country have caused us to ask difficult questions about racial inequality in our society. Even if we have not directly experienced it ourselves, injustice ultimately affects us all.

I will work to ensure that proper steps are taken to benefit both law enforcement and the communities they serve.
